Screen resolution with Carlinkit wired dongle

My unit does not have AA/Carplay so I am using a wired dongle from carlinkit.
The problem is that the Unit is not communicating with the dongle properly and the screen resolution is stretched, like it's zoomed in and cutting off stuff.
I have adjusted the settings on the dongle/AA app but it's limited, it only gives you a few options. How do I get the unit to display the AA/carplay properly?
