Wifi issues

Post by phoenixgod »

Im having issues with my wifi. The system recognizes the hot spot signals but says its out of range when its in the car. Any suggestions

Connect to your hotspot with a phone and look at the connection info. Write down the IP Address, Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS servers. from your head unit locate the hotspot and modify the settings and choose manual for IP address and DNS and enter in the info you wrote down. Take note do not use the same last octet of the written down IP address. Most likely you will be on a Class C /24 network and you will need to replace the last octet with a different number. example you are on subnet 192.168.2.51 was written down change the last number 192.168.2.55 your netmask will most likely be 255.255.255.0 keep this the same

Good luck.

Steve
Try an external wifi antenna and cable to test if it will connect any better or use your smart phone's hotspot feature. The provided antenna is minimal. It may be just too far out of range to connect.
