Hello folks,

If you own a PX6 13.6 head unit for your Ford Explorer (Sync2) please beware and read as much as you can before purchase. I received my headunit in January and have not been able to get a resolve to some of my critical issues.

BUT last night an even bigger issue happened... If you attempt to use an ECU programmer like SCT or Diablo your ECU will brick. The Phoenix headunit is actually blocking the car from talking to the Sync unit to reset the appropriate vehicle settings. I found this out the hard way when the SCT flash failed and the car would not turn on. I had to take the car to Ford, reset the ECU, remove the Phoenix headunit and put the factory one back, then was able to flash using SCT.

This is a major issue and I think the 13.6 head unit was not designed correctly for our vehicles. Heck, my climate control doesn't work during remote start.

I love the head unit other than its absolutely crippling issues. I hope support will get back to me so I can share the details with you.

Phoenix Radios agreed to take the unit back due to the issues caused. I am choosing to downgrade to their older 12.1" PX6 but I have seen videos of that model working properly. I truly just think that the Cannbus or whatever API is being used to translate the language from Sync to the Phoenix Radio is not configured properly.

As a note, once you are able to speak with customer service it was actually quite pleasant. Hopefully they will fix their response times but at least we know that they are happy to assist when they can.
